Tasting Notes: Port Charlotte Distillery Only SHC:01 2006

Port Charlotte Distillery Only SHC:01 2006, 11yo, 62,9% VOL, 1ST Fill Sherry, Cask No 2134, distilled 04.10.2006, 1134 bottles

HEAVILY PEATED ISLAY SINGLE MALT is written in big letters on the cask.

Nose: there is just a slight hint of smoke, followed by the typical Laddie sweetness. Very opulent. like a Mon Cherie after summer break: Dark chocolate and cherries. If it's given a sufficient amount of time, it opens up and develops all flavours of fruits preserved in rum and sugar. It becomes very spicy, starts with nutmeg, and ends up with a walk through a spice shop.

Taste: The alcohol is very dominant. What had been idicated before is repeated on the palate, but complemented by chli sharpness.

With water:

It gets creamier, chocolate fondue. The smoke remains.

Water suit him well in all intents and purposes.

The cherry flavours getting more and more dominant.

maybe a good companion to a Black Forest Gateau or a cheese fondue? - who knows?

Schokoladenfondue. Die Rauchnote bleibt. Wasser tut ihm in jedem Fall gut.

- wer weiss )
