Mit seiner Eröffnung als 5 Sterne Hotel Mitte September kehrt das Islay House, eines der historisch bedeutensten Gebäude Schottlands ins Leben zurück. Wunderschön restauriert erstrahlt es nun in alter und neuer Pracht.

With it's opening as a 5-star hotel mid of September, the Islay House - a building with quite some historical importance for Scotland - is back to life. Beautifully restored, it shines in old and new glory.
Mit dem Baubeginn 1680 entstand hier auf Islay ein Monument der schottischen Geschichte.

With the start of construction in 1680 a monument of Scottish history was built on Islay.
Bertie Nyman, der Manager und die gute Seele des Islay House, begrüßte uns in der Eingangshalle und gewährte uns einen ersten Eindruck des neuen Hotels.

Bertie Nyman, the manager and good soul of the place, greeted us in the lobby and granted us some first impression of the new hotel.
Über den Frühstücksraum und durch die Peat Cutter Bar, die nun demnächst auch für Publikum geöffnet ist, gelangen wir zum zweiten Treppenhaus mit seiner imposanten Wendeltreppe. Diese führt uns in der nächsten Etage zu den Gästezimmern.

Through the breakfast room and the Peat Cutter bar, which will be open soon to the public, we arrived in the second stairway with it's impressive spiral staircase. It leads to the upper floor with the guest rooms.
Ein liebevoll gestaltetes Interieur erwartet den anspruchsvollen Gast. Allein die Aussicht auf das Loch Indaal verdient mindestens fünf Sterne. Den Blick auf Port Charlotte aus der Badewanne, Bowmore vom Teetisch und Birdwatching aus jedem anderen Fenster der Master Suite suchen Ihresgleichen auf Islay.

A lovely arranged interieur awaits the demanding guest. The view on Loch Indaal alone is worth five stars at least. Views on Port Charlotte from the bath tub, Bowmore from the tea table, and birtdwatching from every other window of the master view is second to none on Islay.
Wir wünschen dem Islay House viel Erfolg in seiner neuen Rolle und danken für die ersten Eindrücke, die wir hier gewinnen durften.
Auch freuen wir uns schon jetzt auf unseren ersten Dram in der Peat Cutter Bar.
